Characters in Dead World have three Attributes: Power, Speed, and Smarts. Attributes start at a base of 10 and the player distributes an additional five points at creation (with a maximum of 2 to any Attribute, resulting in an 11 and two 12s). Characters also start with one weapon and three other items. Any action of consequence is based upon one of the three Attributes. Resolution involves 1D20, possibly modified by the relevant Attribute, compared to a difficulty number established by the game master. When characters gain a level, their hit points increase and they gain additional Attribute points to distribute.
