Characters in The Room do not have any defined statistics or abilities. They are assumed to be able to do whatever a "normal person" can do, as determined by the Room Keeper (game master). At the start of the game, the Room Keeper gives a secret note to each player and they subsequently use a limited number of internet searches to attempt to gain more knowledge about their particular secret. The game entirely is narrative unless two players enter a direct conflict in which case each rolls a die and the highest roll wins.
The "goal" of the players is individual and must be pre-determined by the Room Master. Various clues are placed around the room which otherwise is nondescript.
