Paper Quest is a rules-light storytelling game that uses a structured approach to generating an open-ended narrative. Traditionally, game play does not utilize a game master (though if the group prefers, one can be used). The action is driven by cards and resolution can be settled by the use of a simple dice roll. While any type of story can be told using the system, probably most will have some type of fairytale or fantastic qualities emerge.
One interesting aspect of the game allows for optional items to replace the pack of French playing cards as the narrative driver - noted options include dice, rune stones, Legos, "boogers", or even rocks.
