Play begins with all players creating one "malevolent spirit" and two "treasure hunters". These have two and three Attributes, respectively. These Attributes have points distributed into them from a points pool. One this has been done, the character sheets (index cards are preferred) and mixed up and distributed. It is thus unlikely a player will receive the treasure hunters they created. Play then proceeds as a series of turns. The game is intended for single sessions, and no campaign mode is supported.
