The game requires seven players that are assigned different characters, primarily identified by their role. Two characters are local farmers, one is a park ranger, one represents a non-governmental organization (NGO), one is an industrialist, one is a scientist, and one is a mediator. The game uses a setting modeled on the geology, geography, and patrilineal culture of Madagascar. Play proceeds through six game turns, each representing one year in game time. Character activities are based on motivations which, sometimes, contradict with other character desires.
