Characters in the game are defined by Traits, which can be Skills, areas of interest, or simply areas of experience. They are defined by the player during creation. Traits have positive modifiers that are used during action resolution.
Action resolution uses a modified 2d10 roll against a target difficulty. In the game, the game master never rolls dice - players take all the actions. The game presents a compelling setting that is well-developed and cohesive (given the length of the document).
