From the introduction:
West Riding is a collaborative, card-prompted storytelling game based on real historical accounts and events. Each player takes on the role of a Luddite who was captured when about 150 Luddites attacked Rawfolds Mill on the 11th April, 1812.
The goal is not to win—the game always ends as it did in real life, with the Luddites hanging from a scaffold. Instead, the aim of the game is simply to explore the stories of the condemned men, to understand why and how their lives came to this end.
