Dragonfall is a high-fantasy setting focusing upon the mystical realm of Avalon—a place of legendary stories and fairytales—forged from the timeless magics of Merlin and Morgan Ley Fay, where the ancient Arthurian mythos rule the unsuspecting societies. As most role-players across the world already have a familiarity with Arthurian Legendry, the heroes and villains of Dragonfall are based on the figures from that rich mythology such as Sir Galahad, Lancelot, and Mordred, but only known to the Game Master as they are often disguised to the players under aliases or altered morphologies.
At the heart of the Dragonfall saga, the courageous forces of King Arthur challenge the dark magics of Morgan. This eternal fight of good versus evil helps to control the masses. But the obedient pawns and inhabitants Avalon, the players of Dragonfall, are given choices to rise up against these greater powers within their own societies to someday achieve their own godhood. Inherently, the realm of Avalon was wrought from the powers of Merlin as an eternal place for his comrades’ afterlife. From a great cataclysmic moment onward, the ancient forces of Light (Chromos) and Life (Mortalos) clashed against the influences of Darkness (Shados) and Death (Necros) to spawn new cultures, societies, creatures, and conflicts, which would shape Avalon into a new realm.
Dragothia, now the remnants of Avalon, is a place where the Arthurian Legends are immortally bound to its confines of spirit, but not necessarily to physical form. As it was said in legend that King Arthur himself was mortally wounded on the battlefield and was taken to Avalon to be healed, one can only begin to understand the ramifications.
