From publisher blurb:
Andrion Taff was a great warrior. No one wielded a war hammer like him. His prowess and exploits traveled far and his name would appear in songs. More than fifty years ago, Tal Nareth, home to the Taff, was attacked and destroyed by orcs. Andrion and Tal Nareth soldiers fought and surrendered their lives to the place they loved while scores of people managed to flee thanks to the brave warriors’ efforts. They all fled to Hill Pass, the city beyond the mountains, past the bridge of the River of Selenes.
Fulko Taff is the son of Andrion Taff. He lives in Hill Pass as he is one of the survivors of the attack. All his life, he has heard stories from his extraordinary father. There is even a statue in his honor in the Hill Pass square. The warrior stands in a mighty pose holding his hammer. Many of the people Andrion helped escape years ago settled here, including Fulko’s foster parents, who took care of him and raised him as their own when the orcs destroyed their home. But Fulko does not want to hear stories anymore. He wishes to witness the battlefield where his father died. But visiting the ruins is no easy task. Orcs roam and hide in the Forest of Ferendel and some of them have installed themselves in the remnants of Tal Nareth. They inhabit the empty buildings and use them as protection from the elements. Fulko Taff needs some brave bodyguards who can take him to the place that would have been his hometown, had the orcs not destroyed it.
