This part of town has seen better days. The tavern which was built long ago now sits at the very edge of the cliff, warmth and the scent of freshly baked goods wafting from it’s windows. There is also an alchemists store, weapons store and a small library tended to by one of the towns monks.
Many of the buildings hold stairways down to storage basements or further rooms below which also connect up to the towns sewers. In the subbasement there are multiple rooms which are semi-lived in including a secret shrine.
Adventure Seed
Half a dozen children have gone missing from their homes over the last few months and one distraught mother has begged you to investigate. The disappearances have been worsening and they believe something needs to be done about it—no one else in the village will search for the children and the guards haven’t been able to find anything.
She suspects a cult is behind it, but you need to be discrete when you look into it. Most of the villagers are too scared to speak about it and if any of the zealots get word that you’re asking questions you might be ambushed and taken yourself.
What’s happening? Foreigners arrived in this village a little over a year ago and began preaching their strange religion on the streets. No-one thought anything of it then, but now the religion has spread and the increasing disappearances of children are just the beginning.
The children, however, are actually choosing to convert to the religion, following the priests down into the sewers where they are treated well and given more food than they could dream of (covertly supplied by the town’s Innkeeper).
However, something more insidious is happening. Once down there, the children are not permitted to leave and while they’re being treated well the priest intends to use them as vessels for a demonic ritual practiced by his religion.
