From the introduction:
Crash Cart is a roleplaying game about a private ambulance crew operating in the pressure cooker environment of a near-future California Metropolitan Axis (henceforth referred to as the CalAxis.). You play working stiffs, who are not particularly cyber nor punk, trying to make it through their shift unscathed. It is an impossible job, as the beleaguered paramedics are caught between the hammer of their demanding corporate overlords and the tongs of desperately violent near-future streetlife..
Each game session spans a single shift, involving one or more ambulance runs from Crash Cart HQ (LLC, incorporated 2037, currently rated a solid, if unimpressive “B” on the Lunar Stock Index). The crew retrieves their client(s) (we used to call them patients) and then shuttles them to their chosen Medical Care Destination. Keep in mind that a healthy client is a happy, non-litigious client.
The average Crash Cart employee burns out within three weeks. You rounded that bend months ago. Something far more powerful than money or job security drives you. Finding out why ordinary people take extraordinary risks is what this game is about.
