An 8.5" x 11" boxed set of Classic Traveller with extra materials.
From the box:
Deluxe Traveller is designed as a newcomer's introduction to role-playing and to
Traveller. It includes the
Traveller Boxed Set of three 48-page books (Books 1, 2, and 3), just like the separate boxed
Basic Traveller set. In addition, it contains the following materials:
- Book 0: An Introduction to Traveller, covers basic details about role-playing in general, and Traveller in particular. Book 0 discusses many role-playing concepts for the beginning player and referee; it helps guide you into the realm of science-fiction role-playing.
- Adventure 00: The Imperial Fringe, is a complete adventure for Traveller. All of the basic preparation is pregenerated, and the adventure can be begun once the referee reads through the books.
- The Spinward Marches Map is a full four color, 17" x 22" map of a stellar subsector which is already the subject of several Traveller adventures. The Introductory Adventure is set in the Spinward Marches.
User summary:
A later version of this set became available after the release of Traveller: Starter Edition, replacing Books 1-3 with the 64-page Starter Traveller Rules Booklet, the 24-page Charts and Tables booklet, and an 8-page Additional Rules booklet for compatibility with all Traveller game material as well as Book 0, Adventure 0, and the map of the Spinward Marches packaged in a 1-inch deep box instead of the 2-inch deep box of the original.
A side-by-side comparison illustrates several differences between the boxes in addition to the change in box depth. The original version box is visually identical to the 1981 Traveller Boxed Set revised edition box with the exception of a "Deluxe Edition" banner in the upper right corner of the front of the box top. The later version retains the general appearance of the older set, but switches the lettering to a bold weight and has "Deluxe Edition" clearly marked on the sides of the box. The box bottoms of both versions are nearly identical, with minor wording changes, but also with a change of font weight for the game name.
