"It [Pandemonium] was originally called APA-DUD but the editors decided to change its name so that it would be taken more seriously. Organized by a group of gamers in New York associated with the well known gaming store chain the Compleat Strategist. This was circulated to contributing members only and is described as a contentious yet interesting discourse on gaming. It is noted that it is obvious most of the gamers know one another and details of the writing are borne from private gaming sessions that leave the reader in the 'dark' as to these important details."

It was originally edited by the late Robert Sacks; it ran monthly from the mid 1970's through the mid 1980's. William Seligman attempted to create a successor, called "Mentat", which ran for a couple more years.

From William Seligman:
There are two different publications named Pandemonium described here. The first and third paragraphs are on one; the second paragraph and the images below are from the other.
"Mentat" was not truly a successor to the Pandemonium edited by Robert Sacks. 'Pan' was an APA about tabletop RPGs; Mentat was an APA about computers.
