Hi! It's me, Dave Bernazzani. I'm here to talk about myself. Since nobody else would listen anyway, this is perfect.
I was born a Moon-child - in the year of 1969 and my earliest memories involve boardgames. As a kid I played all the classics - Monopoly, Checkers, Backgammon. Later I was into Electronic Battleship and Stop Thief - the electronic games were SO cool. As I grew up it was a progression of card games (mostly traditional - Cribbage and Rummy games remain favorites today) and Chess. In 1979 or 80 I had a friend who got the basic Dungeons & Dragons box set - I think it was the blue cover though the set I remember most fondly was from a year or so later (the Magenta box set with the red rulebook). As a 10 year old with an active imagination - this was like throwing high-grade fuel on a spark. I went nuts! Loved playing - though I hardly think we played by the correct rules...
We played for almost a year when we decided to switch to a science fiction game. At the time, there weren't a ton of choices. The most obvious system out there was STAR FRONTIERS by TSR. And we just ate it up!
In 1983 we began to modify the STAR FRONTIERS rules more and more... and soon we had so many house rules that we decided to branch off and write our own game called STRIKE FORCE which was heavily inspired by STAR FRONTIERS.
STRIKE FORCE saw 8 major revisions. Those early copies were hand written... later done on typewriter and in the late 1980s were done on WordStar word processor. The last edition was released in the early 2000s - and is as complete as I care to make it. We've spent thousands of hours playing in the Science Fiction world of STRIKE FORCE. Some of my most fond memories are with my friends at the gaming table hooting and hollering over our adventures.
These days I dabble in variety of systems - D&D 3.5, 4.0, Mutants & Masterminds, True20, Fudge, etc. I'm buying RPG books (both more traditional systems and plenty of Indie games) at an alarming pace! I look forward to making even more great memories with friends at the the table!
