My name is Christopher Moore, 23 years old, the founder and designer of Ascension Games, LLC. I graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology at the end of 2013 with a bachelors in Computational Media; a hybrid degree that combines technical skill in computing with artistic and design knowledge. My focus was on mechanics design in games, both digital and analog, with a secondary focus on storytelling and writing for games.
While going to Georgia Tech, I was introduced to the joys of tabletop games. Dungeons & Dragons, Shadowrun, Pathfinder, various board games like Arkham Horror and Dominion... several games have caught my interest over the last few years. Ever since I began playing I've been constantly adding and tweaking the materials and rules in the games I play, even creating a few homebrew systems with my friends. No surprise, considering the focus of my study. Among my peers I was the go-to guy for any custom material for tabletop games, and created numerous classes, creatures, spells, options, even entire rulesets...you name a feature, I've designed new stuff for it.
After graduation, I wished to pursue a career in game design, but found the market difficult for a recent graduate to enter. As I searched long and hard for an entry point, I came to the realization that if I wanted to make my way into the game industry, I couldn't just wait for a door to open, I had to kick it down. So I decided to create my own material, be my own employer, create what I wanted to create. And now, after a long and difficult effort, I created Ascension Games, my own publishing company for creating tabletop games.
Starting with a Pathfinder series of books, I aim to create well-designed, balanced, and exciting material for all kinds of players. In the future, I am to expand into designing and publishing my own game systems that will be played and enjoyed for years to come.
I hope you enjoy all of my products as much as I enjoy writing them!
