Dear Friends of Editions Icare,

I present myself before you with a news very difficult to expose, nevertheless I want to make sure to explain to the best the reasons that push me to do it. On this day I have the sadness to announce my decision to close the editions Icare at the end of 2016 ...

This nine-year adventure was for me an incredible source of passion, pleasure but also pride, however on this day various causes push me to put the final point. The first of these reasons is personal. As I said, I have been fighting against the wind for the past nine years to save this frail skiff from sinking, and I have happily counted on board my proud and courageous sailors who helped me with the task Thanked), but today I must confess to feel exhausted by this solitary marathon. I aspire to take a different way of life, not necessarily radically different, but requiring less absolute investment. Publishing role plays these days is not easy, doing it alone for a decade is an outrage at common sense.

The second point which confirms me in this decision is of an economic nature. As you may be aware, the Icare editions have never been solvent. Never. During the first years, I offset the losses on my own funds, until I reached my own financial limit. At that time, crowdfunding made its appearance and like many I saw a relief buoy. Indeed this new system has made it possible to revitalize the editions, to publish novelties, and in itself this is already providential. Nonetheless, Icare's fundraising campaigns have never been a resounding success, often covering the right balance. The cash therefore did not benefit from a windfall, and unfortunately the sales not covering the overheads, Participatory financing has in part had to be used for the harsh operation of the house. This situation has led to a cash dependence on participatory financing, with a new project terminating the payment of the old fee. This system, although flawed, can work, I think besides not being the only one trapped in this configuration, and it worked for two years. But what happens when you decide to stop? Well, we realize that the cash hole did not disappear, that it was just camouflaged by the tense flow of activity. All this to say that the Icare editions are not profitable, and that I made the decision to stop persuading me otherwise before losing my shirt. These are the main reasons why I have to give up today. However, what I retain above all from this adventure are unforgettable moments and unprecedented human value. Sébastien's impressive energy, Quentin's enthusiastic enthusiasm, Julien's respectful confidence, the passion screwed to the ankles of Denis, the inalienable vision of Tony and Guillaume, the humor and above all the benevolence of the Tlön, the insight of Vivien And the modest virtuosity of Yann (his brush companion), the well-tempered character of Emmanuel (we have begun to learn the sagaies to find a true relationship of trust around a fire), the utopian faith of Liberty , And of course I also think of all those who joined me under the banner of the great king, The sires Vincent (an artist who is under-exploited and a man of how much merit!), Stephan and Francis, as well as the enchanter with the testimonial friendship, Merlin Mahyar. The list is long and I can not evoke all those I have come across in these long years, but thanks to you organizer, staff member, passionate enthusiast and passionate barbarian, thank you to you who congratulated me when the morale Was down, or criticized me when it was too high, thanks to you benevolent, famous microcosm or anonymous of the bigger, thanks to you reader, thanks to you.

This adventure represents more than a quarter of my life, as a first love, I can not forget it, and yet, as a first love, I know that I should mourn, mature and remember Without regret, to reach my own harmony. Let us not be sad, the wheel has made a complete turn and is preparing in silence to start a new one.

My very sincere friendships.
