From the introduction:
Much of what happened has been lost to the depths of time. There was a time before all of the “visitors”. A time when magic was something you saw done on stage, and reality was manipulated by mass media in order to maximize their profit margin. It was a glorious age that was comparatively peaceful. Huge nations dominated the globe and arranged themselves into power blocks, in order to develop their own hold on technology. Exo-suits and biological enhancements made the leap from dream to reality. While armed conflict occurred, it was conducted on a limited scale.
However, some still believed that the Earth was living in a bubble. Secret forces acted from afar, watching the world and plotting, showing disdain for the Utopian Earth. This came at a time when New Age ideas and Spiritualism became rather popular. Superstition returned stronger than it had been since the Dark Ages, and was widely accepted. Ancient horrors once only known within the pages of long forgotten tomes became mass produced toys and icons. Advertising jingles became supposed magical incantations. This of course had caused the populace at large to dabble in things beyond their understanding and control. As a result, even the self-proclaimed wizards and witches were unprepared for what was about to transpire. They were unfamiliar with such catalysts, and did not recognize just how much the universe was about to change.
The Hodgepoclypse is an atypical blend of science fantasy in a post-apocalyptic earth.
