Welcome to the Official Virtuacon '14 Schedule of Events! This is our big yearly RPG gaming convention which runs Friday through Sunday ... October 10-12, 2014. The entire event is run online with modern tools that make it the next best thing to being at the table with your friends.

Virtuacon consists of four major components.

1. RPGs - and we have more than 60 great games you can sign up for and play!
2. Panels - experts and enthusiasts on a wide variety of gaming topics.
3. Contests - Our contests this year run the entire week of Virtuacon (so you won't miss any gaming).
4. The Tavern - The Silver Unicorn will be open all event... come by, relax and chat with your fellow geeks!

Please Note: All of the events are done using G+ / Hangouts. So you'll need to add yourself to the Virtuacon Community on G+ (free and easy to do).

Panels require no signup - everyone can view the panel (and all will be available to watch even after they have aired live - but you can only participate in Live Q&A if you watch them live). The link to the G+ Event for every event and panel is shown in the geeklist below.

Contests require no sign-up - all contests are being coordinated on the Virtuacon '14 Master Contest Thread.

The Tavern requires no signup. Just go to the Silver Unicorn Tavern Hangout anytime during VC14 operating hours (we open early and are staying late!)

RPG Events requires sign-up. To participate as a player for any game, use the link in each Geeklist item to go to the G+ link which is indicated on every game in this geeklist. It's first come, first served - the GM will do his best to accommodate but players will be turned away for popular games. The link to the G+ Event for each panel is shown in the geeklist here:

Virtuacon '14 - Schedule of Events and Player sign-ups!

If you have questions about any game, simply post to the G+ Event for the game in question and hopefully the GM gets back to you! You can also post questions of any kind below. Virtuacon staff is standing by to help!

You can download a PDF of the entire Virtuacon '14 Schedule (nicely color-coded with all games and panels shown - this schedule may be updated as the event draws closer).

Note: we are still working on getting a few events listed. If you click on an event and are taken to the Virtuacon Not Yet page, rest assured we are working on getting the listing up over the next couple of days (if we can't, the event will be pulled from the schedule).

Lastly, if you think you want to participate but are unsure if your have the technical equipment needed (95% chance you do if you have a laptop from the last 5 years)... you can check out our Virtuacon '14 Tech Training Sessions for technical assistance.

Remember, only participation can make this our best event yet! Sign up, don't be shy and enjoy the Best Three Days in Virtual Gaming!

Nice! I can't believe my Four Doctors Doctor Who adventure in time and space game doesn't have any players yet! I thought that would be popular

I'm very curious about that game, but since I haven't watched the series and the game starts at 23:00 my time, I figured I will get another opportunity to try it. And I totally cried huge tears when Brian announced his Lords of Gossamer and Shadow: A Time For Everything at that, too late for me, time as well. Not too many opportunities to play that game.

Also, we have so many so cool games, it's hard to choose

YES. It's a great photo of everyone except the top of my head!

I love the facepalm! We can all relate.

Though I'd have used this mission control pic from Rich had it been available when I created the post (this one just got uploaded)

As it says on each Geeklist item, you take first come, first served. Since G+ doesn't tell you when people signed up, we have encouraged people to leave a comment on the G+ Event page as to when they signed up.

In the end, it's your call. Rest assured that some players didn't make the full commitment last time around and so more than a dozen games were missing a player or two (two couldn't happen due to not enough players). So having an extra player or two is never a bad thing. If you've got more than an extra or two, just leave a comment saying that you have filled and will take no more than 1 or 2 reserves.

Having 1 or 2 extra players will be a far better problem to deal with than the alternative last year.

I took on a fifth player but then already told on the page the game is full. Hope it works. I love to see I have one of my players from last year wanting to join it again.

And I look to serious on my picture above.

Hi,

I'd really like to try this out, but I seem to be quite a newbie when it comes to Hangouts..

When I click the Google+ Links on the Virtuacon-Geeklist. I get a "You need an invitation to view this event". If I click the "Request an Invitation" button does it mean that I've registered on this event or do I need to do something else? Ah sorry, I missed sentence about joining the Virtuacon Community.

Oh and is there a list online where you can see which games still have vacant seats available?

Thank you!

Right! We should have been more upfront about this. We use the Virtuacon G+ Community to house all the events - so you need to join that community. Without the community, the GMs would have to individually invite anyone interested and that would be painful.

My Pathfinder game now has more people marked as "not going" than anything else.

I went from 2 "yes" and a maybe to 2 "no" and a maybe.

So, now I'm questioning everything. soblue

I did sign up for a 5E game, so that I'll at least have something to do during Virtuacon besides wait in line at the Tavern.

Plus, I'm considering that 8AM game of Numenera on Sat., but I have to go to a wedding that day.

I hope some of you tavern dwellers will pop into the trivia game I'm hosting Friday night.

We've only had signups for a day! Hang in there

And I think your trivia game will totally fill. I'm hoping to make it!

This. Don't worry Kyle. People are going through the lists and jumping and out of games. I'm sure you will have enough players to run the game

Definitely. We decided to be much more free-form than last year where we tried to lock-step signups and it really didn't work well. We're leveraging our learning from last year - this year the signups are done in only one place, people can over book, jump around and do whatever... but in the end, we will have lots of "people" at the virtual convention and lots of people just jumping into games as the events start.

I should also stress that most of the games are listed as "No Experience Required". You don't have to know a game to play - you don't have to own the books. The GM owns and has prepared all you need to play - so definitely take advantage of the games! We had such a blast last year - and we've improved things this year to make for an even better gaming experience.

If it's any help, I'll offer my thoughts: I'm excited about Virtuacon. I know I should be reasonable and prioritize other stuff over it (that is, not participate at all). But I've skimmed the geeklist of events, and clicked at some sessions that I'm interested in. At this time, I don't feel comfortable committing to anything. I've joined two games (I think) and added myself to some others as a "maybe". It's entirely possible that I need to drop out of some game, but I'll probably only know that when Virtuacon is right around the corner or even has started already (and yes, I feel bad about my unreliability). On the other hand, I'm hoping that maybe somebody else won't show up for a game that I'd love to join, so I could jump in on short notice.

There will be others like me, I guess. Also, there will be people who'll pop in on Saturday and ask what games are currently happening, and if they can take a seat anywhere.

Sure, there might be games that don't take off. Lack of interest, or players don't show up, or whatever. But that's something that will unfold when the convention's taking place. And it looks like there will be enough opportunities for people to pass the time and have fun: meet smiling faces in the tavern hangout, watch a panel (and ask questions live), and maybe (if groups are okay with that) just watching another hangout game silently. I'm guessing there might be some spontaneous games - maybe I'll offer a game of Doll myself - I would love to try it, after all.

In short: Don't worry. The openness and flexibility of sign-ups might feel alarming, but I believe it is better than last year's more rigid system.

Good thoughts, Jonas. We definitely made a mistake last year trying to be more rigid. Plus a huge majority of the GMs last year were somewhat new to the hold online gaming via G+/Hangouts and it was a little intimating. This year we've got what I'd guess is more than 1000 hours of combined experience in running online games - basically we rock

It's totally okay to just participate as much or as little as you like. Coming to 1 game or just coming to the Tavern and saying 'hi' is cool. The contests are going to be fun. Watching a panel on some interesting topic counts as attending! We're fun people and it's nice to be part of a big 3 day event where we come together (even virtually).

I'm taking Friday off and attending all 3 days and will be in "attendance" so long as I'm awake

I'm pretty sure of this. If time allows (which I can't say right now), I'll be running tremulus and/or Dungeon World.
