Ever since you failed to capture the Tyrant’s cord at Sacgrave, it has lingered in the back of your minds. You failed to acquire it, and it was lost to you to the agents of Seiyr the Bereft. Now that you have redeemed yourself in the Imperium, it is time to seek vengeance.

The planet of Pyurultide is the original home of the Tyrant’s Cord. A place of pestilence and pox, it was once the home of great and beautiful spires dedicated to the god of desire. You have learned that Seiyr has used the cord to unite the Pox Tribes on Pyurultide, and is summoning his followers to the planet in the preparation of something great.

You are also on your way there. Currently travelling on your warship. You hope to infiltrate the massing host, and reclaim the cord for yourself. Seiyr is using it to create an army of the people on the planet. You are more interested in the ancient ruined towers. Dark whispers in your ear say that true power is within them.

Ahh, the towers of Sacgrave.

Rosenberg lovingly taps the idol he recovered on his last trip to Sacgrave.

Perhaps Rubis will show her ugly face again. I'd love to rip her scalp from her skull.

"Return to your senses fair Abelard. Your time for recompense is nigh, and they shall know that you are no fool. Look at the last to insult you. He now lay dead back upon the ruined world of Thermorb.

Ending the life of Seiyr or making him kowtow before you Shall remove any remaining pox upon your spirit."

Ferrus takes in his surroundings and envisions another world within the compact's portfolio.

"I do not believe it is in our best interest to infiltrate Seiyr's organization. We must find a different path if we are to display why we should be feared. I say we begin creating our own organization and begin assaulting his infrastructure. Infiltrating is far more efficient, but efficiency does not always breed an empire. What say you?"

Abelard reflects...

"Yes, I'm all for assaulting. Slinking in the shadows, or any kind of subtlety for that matter, is tiresome. Recruit. Prepare. Attack."

I'm not the same Abelard as before...

When you arrive at Pyurultide, you get an overview of the situation. Seiyr has built his fortress in the middle of the "ocean". Here he has erected a massive and entrenched fortress where his closest followers live. The island is far from the main land, and the crumbled towers of the former lords.

The oceans surrounding the island is not water, but rather insects and bugs. Followers of Seiyr that aren't worthy of living on the island have instead extended the size of the island by constructing metal floors extending out from the island in all directions, protecting from the sea of insects underneath.

Are these insects sentient? Able to be bent to our will? Or are they just insects?

Rosenberg sucks his teeth at the sight of the insects. Some of them look too eerily similar to the Tyranids he was so accustomed to decimating.

Perhaps we should start with that unworthy lot. Surely we can convince them of their worth to our cause over Seiyr. Time is on our side.

The insects are just insects. Nothing sentient.

You moved a bit quickly Nathan, I just imagined you were studying the situation from space, and not being planetside yet.

The population Pyurultide has grown with all the foreigners arriving from all over. If you want to start a counter movment, perhaps go to one of the places where people are gathering. On the "artificial land" created around Seiyr's island are several city-like communities. That might be a place to start.

Let's go to one of the outer communities and drum up support for our awakening. These sewer rats should be easy enough to exploit.

Abelard admires his powermaul, gently polishing the "business" end with a blood-stained rag.

"Yeah, let's go smash a few heads and get this revolt going! Of course, maybe we should assess their attitude first. Maybe they are ready to rebel without us demonstrating any malice. But I understand your need to collect scalps... so lead on!"

His flaming head flashes brighter for just a moment.

The circle around Seiyr's island is based on rank. His people are on the island, native pox tribes close to the island, and off-worlders live around the edges. The third group is by far the largest. About half of them are Nurgle-devoted heretics, who has come to the planet in the hopes of finding a burgeoning crusade.

Now you have arrived in this third circle. It seems like an extremely dangerous place to live. Makeshift metal constructed has been erected, to make it possible to live above the sea of insects. There are no buildings above a single floor, and most people live directly on the metal grating, inches from the insects. The few small buildings are used by the most influential heretics, space marines and such.

The atmosphere is one of frustration. Daily thousands die of diseases and accidents, but Seiyr seems to be content to stay in his palace. If you want to rival his influence though, you must prove you can control this environment, either by pure power or by wisdom.

You see some options. The most powerful people here are the Plague Marines. They are unrivaled in power, and hold many secrets. The Pox Tribes are firmly aligned with Seiyr, as far as you can tell at least. Then, there are the Plaguemeisters. They stay to themselves, working on new diseases which they spread amongst the waiting war host. Their are hated, but everyone knows they are blessed by Nurgle. Finally, there is a regiment of Chem-hunters from Messia. They use chemicals to increase their powers, here they integrate diseases into the cocktail.

Rosenberg sucks his teeth and adjusts his scalps.

Let's meet with all of these groups. We can find the most suitable candidates through our talks with them. The Chem-hunters intrigue me. Perhaps they will have a rare weapon to contribute.

Is there a leader within that group?

The chem-huntes are led by colonel Andregool. The regiment, counting some two thousand soldiers have erected a telt camp where they wait for something to happen. Andregool is mostly in his tent, testing various diseases and chemicals.

"I have a different idea. In our travel here I was able to make new life in the form of this."

It is a small, hard shelled creature no larger than a fist of a scrawny human, in roughly the shape of a kidney. It slithers in Ferrus' palm with an unearthly grace that beguiles and bemuses the viewer. Upon closer inspection it's outer shell appears to be military grade armor plating, with grafted daemon skin, and some type of camouflage. Its body will shock most viewers, but it lets off a disquieting aura of that which was not meant to be.

"I have given this one the name of Osmodeus, and I have pieced it together from parts of Discordius and my misbegotten Gabriel. Its primary function is to infiltrate and take control of a target's nervous system. Effectively, we will make the colonel into our new slave and then kill him when we no longer need him."

You are truly full of surprises Ferrus. Let's go with this plan. Do we need subterfuge, or would it be enough to distract him while Osmodeus does the difficult work?

You enter the tent of the Chem-hunters officers. It is large, but most of it is filled with large of unknown content. Reclining on divans are the regiments five officers, amongst them are colonel Andregool. Going back and forth from the vats are diseased servants, bringing then foul liquid they smoke through a water pipe.

When you get closer, Andregool sits up slightly it says, ”It is true then, the masters of Thermorb has returned, and seek new glory in this putrid crusade.”

Abelard takes a position directly in front of the Colonel. But remains silent. Letting everybody take in the visage of his flaming head as he thinks to himself.

Glory... power... Or simply a taste for mayhem. You should bow in the presence of your betters...

Abelard is simply trying to be a distraction for his comrades to do their dirty work.

He whispers, "Ferrus where is your little friend? What can I do to help?"

"I just need to get close. If we can restrain him it will be easier, but it is unnecessary. The most important issue is that no one outside of the tent knows what happens."

The officers doesn't stand up, but edges closer to their weapons next to them.

The colonel speaks, "We have here for a Black Crusade. Sweeping into Imperial space. We have given ourselves over to the Lord of Bile, and this rotting planet, but still, we don't move. The Prince of Pestilence is flegmatic, but how does he intend we crush the Imperium from here."
