The nominees for the 2014 Golden Geek Awards have been chosen by you! The voting is now open via these links:

Board Games
RPG
Video Game

Instructions:

* Select the appropriate category from the buttons at the top of the page.
* Rank the items by clicking on the box and selecting the rank.
* Duplicate rankings are OK if you think the items are equivalent.
* Change a rank to N/A if you have no opinion on an item. Any other games you rate will be considered higher ranked.
* 1 is Highest - 15 is Lowest (in the case where there are more than 15 nominees the highest number is still the lowest)

Your votes are recorded immediately and may be changed up until the time voting closes (11:59 PM CST - February 22, 2015).

The final voting will resolved using the Schulze method - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schulze_method

As usual, voting is restricted to either supporting users (having a supporter badge from any year is sufficient) or voters who pay a one-time 20 GeekGold fee, or users who have purchased an avatar.

Some categories have more than 15 nominees and some have less. In the former there were ties, and the latter there weren't enough nominees to fill the category.

Here's the list of nominees, and congratulations!

Is "N/A" the same as "tied for lowest ranking"? Or does "no opinion" mean that your vote somehow doesn't count in comparisons involving that item?

How do I vote to accurately reflect what games I specifically want to not win? devil

Specific example: if I break games into three different ratings, is there any difference between say 1, 2, 3 and 1, 19, 20 and 1, 2, 20?

Both Marvel Dicemasters sets got nominated for best 2-player game. Don't get me wrong I love Dicemasters, but couldn't both have just been lumped together?

The good thing is that in this voting system they won't take votes away from each other.

The good thing is that in this voting system they won't take votes away from each other.

The other good thing is that whatever game got bumped as a result of this game being represented twice was extremely unlikely to win, as the number of nominations from 1 to 15 in that category drops off quite significantly.

I see Tajemnicze Domostwo is a 2013 game so not eligible. Limited early distribution will limit a game's chances for these awards.

Our individual rankings are used to create a consensus ranking of all voters.

If we cumulatively vote A over B and B over C then we, as a group, voted A over C. That seems like a reasonable result since our individual votes can't have any circular rankings with A>B, B>C and C>A. We are forced to vote linear rankings even if our game preferences aren't linear. (Please don't ask me to prove the cumulative vote can't be circular. I accept the statement that it can't be.)

And, in all honesty — why is Ticket to Ride: 10th Anniversary on the list? That's a 2004 game that simply had a new edition released in 2014. Or, do all games with new editions qualify? In that case, Mysterium is fine, and several others would be eligible, too.

Perfect!

So I voted but I was confused about something. All games I didn't play I left at N/A (which honestly wasn't too many) but what should I do about games from the categories I didn't like or thought they did well in that particular category. Maybe I didn't like the artwork and presentation of "game y" Should I leave it at N/A or put it at 15 (sounds like it doesn't matter but I want to be sure)
