What are your favourite RPG supplements that focus on a particular city, and why? What qualities make for a good city guidebook?

What do you like or dislike about class/level-based RPGs? What kinds of games do you think class/level mechanics suit particularly well, or particularly badly?

(If desired, repeat for just about any other Mechanics entries.)

How do you read an rpg book?

Front to back? Always start with a certain chapter? etc.

I think we had a question about when and where people read their rpg books, but of course it might have included the question how they are being read. Anyway, probably worth asking again.

When a new RPG comes out, can you easily tell if it will become highly successful or not ? If so, how do you manage to make that determination ?

Taking a specific example, will Infinity the Roleplaying Game Corebook become highly successful, and how can you tell ?

What other specific examples of very recently published RPGs come into mind ?

Have you done this one yet?

"Have you voted in the https://rpggeek.com/geeklist/253832/rpggeek-madness-2019-nom...?"

Pointing QotD folks to other ongoing RPGG things is always a quick, easy, and good QotD when you need one!

Do you care about the Golden Geek Award?
What do you think about RPGs and video games dropping out of the usual process (public nominations and votings) this year, presumably to switch to a committee approach?

See 13th Annual Golden Geek Awards - Nominations Open!
Aldie wrote:
The RPG and Video Game categories are not included as part of the nomination or voting process this year, as we are experimenting with using a committee approach for deciding those awards. You will be able to find more details on the committee process on RPGGeek and VideoGameGeek as they become available.

Do you use dedicated dice bags, or do you use generic plastic bags ("ziplock", etc,) to store your dice ?

If you use dedicated bags, which ones ? Show us your collection !

Have you had a character acquire a nickname or title ( Garin the fox as opposed to sir garen ) in game play?

Do you have a hard start time to begin actually starting to play, or do you let people chit chat until they begin to run down?

Modern games, white player with black character, or any other combination, how do you choose to role play a different race?

Have you ever played a physically challenged character ( short, missing limb, blind ), what about a mentally challenged one?

Tired of goblins as 1st level cannon fodder, what do you use instead? ( feel free to make something up on the spot )

What role, if any, has religion or religious themes played in your games? Are there any genres, e.g. fantasy, that religion is more likely to be a theme/element than others? Is religion simply relegated to the Cleric serving some god or pantheon that plays no role, evil cultists, or is it an active part of the game world/PC/NPC, like how it is in real life?

Very curious to see how the crowd currently here on RPGG will react to this question.

So while back, some players of SteamCraft were saying how they ended up discussing things in character about the world including religion. They seemed to really enjoy getting into that aspect of things. To use a phrase I dislike, it was more role-playing than roll playing.

After that, I started to look to see how religions were dealt with outside of straight fantasy. While I have my observations, I wanted more data on the issue.

Do you use any specialty function dice (Hit location, direction/scatter, wind direction, dungeon tile, time, etc) instead of normal dice/random tables? Why/why not?

I'm referencing things like the dice seen here from Flying Buffalo, Inc. (FBI)

When you buy a screen, do you buy it for the screen, or the typical included adventure and/or additional rules booklet?
