Welcome to our very first

-- RPG Geek DramaSystem Contest --

This contest is officially brought to you by RPG Geek and Pelgrane Press.

Have you ever wished you could write your own Series Pitch or show one you've never dared post anywhere on the internet? Then the RPG Geek DramaSystem Contest is exactly what you need.

Make up a Series Pitch like the ones you can find in Robin D. Laws's Hillfolk, Blood on the Snow or Series Pitch of the Month, and send it to shadow_hexagram [at] hotmail [dot] fr (it's fr, not com) before April 13, 2015 11:50pm GMT (London time).

And for those who don’t know this roleplaying game yet, DramaSystem is, to quote the core rulebook, a game that helps to“collectively create a compelling, serial story of emotional need and conflict within a tightly-knit group of people.”

DramaSystem is an open license, and you can find the OGL & Creative Commons documents here on the Pelgrane Press website.

and here's a geeklist by Jean-Christophe (aka 'deborn') that geeklists up all the series pitches to date:
A comprehensive list of DramaSystem Series Pitches

d10-0d10-5 Three DriveThruRPG gift cards generously offered by RPG Geek & BoardGameGeek LLC (thanks a lot!) to our three top winners: $25, $15 and $10.

The prizes will be awarded as follow:

- 1st spot: 1 DriveThruRPG $25 gift card + 1 Pelgrane Press $25 voucher + 50% of the Geekgold
- 2nd spot: 1 DriveThruRPG $15 gift card + 1 Pelgrane Press $15 voucher + 30% of the Geekgold
- 3rd spot: 1 DriveThruRPG $10 gift card + 1 Pelgrane Press $10 voucher + 20% of the Geekgold

Our terms and conditions:

The submission deadline is April 13, 2015 11:50pm GMT (London time).

Feel free to choose the theme you want, just be considerate and use your common sense. If your submission is not “family-friendly”, please add a [mature] tag on your front page.

Send your submission directly to shadow_hexagram [at] hotmail [dot] fr (it's fr, not com). If you can't reach me this way, geekmail me and we'll work out a solution.

Only documents in .pdf format are accepted.

On your front page, please include the following details:

- Submitter’s name and RPG Geek Username
- Title
- The mention: "RPG Geek DramaSystem Contest 2015"
- Any illustration you'd like to include – this is optional and shouldn't be taken into account in the votes.

Voting will take place between April 14, 2015 and April 27, 2015 by geekmail. You will pick up you first three Series Pitches. Your n°1 will be worth 3 points, your n°2 will be worth 2 points and your n°3 will be worth 1 point.

Any tie will be resolved publicly via a poll between April 28, 2015 and May 4, 2015.

No copyright infringement please. Unless you provide any strong evidence that the Tolkien estate allowed you to use their intellectual property, please, refrain to do so (but feel free to be inspired from it though).

Any Series Pitch using a setting developed in another game should display a disclaimer showing the publisher's authorization. Obviously, this doesn't concern participants whose submission uses their own created world.

Only one submission per participant.

Each submission is the entire property of its writer. Neither BoardGameGeek, LLC nor I can claim any rights to any of them.

No corrected versions of previously sent submissions are allowed. I will post submitted files on a geeklist as soon as they're sent, in order for them to be read, played and discussed about. Changes taking feedback into consideration would be unfair to later participants, so please make sure your file is ready before hitting the "send" button.

So far, we've received tips from:

Kattvippa, jasri, Bifford, taen, oberon166, wavemotion, Modoc, IvoryThorns, intrepideddie, Kezle, andyl, edige23, Red Wine Pie, Vaklam, Original_CorPse,

Thank you very much everyone!

So good luck to everyone and feel free to play as many Series Pitches as you can, to discuss them in this thread, and also please be considerate to Pelgrane Press, all the DramaSystem creative team and to all your fellow participants.

Have fun!

Hi Phil, there's no word limit, but the format of a Series Pitch is already self-constrained in itself. So don't worry, just write as much as you want. What will matter in the end is clarity and playability.

Well, a pdf doesn't gather dust, and as Jonas posted above, there's the Bundle of Holding: Hillfolk , the latest Bundle of Holding.

Besides, DramaSystem is an OGL & Creative Commons license, and you will find a link to the SRD in my opening post.

(But I'd strongly advise you to grab the Bundle of Holding, it really offers everything you need).

Good question, which makes me think I need to add this rule:

Only one submission per participant.

Re: RPG Geek DramaSystem Contest 2015
I'm thinking about centering my pitch around the second burning of the Library of Alexandria.

Idea thus far:

The year is 273. Emperor Aurelian, the "Restorer of the East", is in battle with Queen Zenobia, the Warrior Queen of Palmyra, whose empire has cut into what was once Roman lands. Zenobia currently rules all of Egypt, and Rome is not pleased. Especially since the rich Egyptian grain harvests no longer flow into Roman ports. In retaliation Aurelian orders the Brucheion, the royal section of Alexandra, burned. Unfortunately, the famous Library of Alexandria is located there. What Aurelian doesn't know is that there is a second library, the Serapeum, located in the heart of the city. As his men prepare to burn the Brucheion, others prepare to save what they can.

Sounds interesting, Carrie! I love me some historical... well historical anything .

I'm thinking of doing a fantasy (well I suppose very loosely historical) kind of Aztec/Egyptian mash up where you play as people in the palace trying to keep up the public pretence of being a godking/queen so as to prevent public uprising while also combating internal politics.

God bless,
Kezle
