Re: RPG Geek DramaSystem Contest 2015
I wonder if the difference between the part that you did and my part was I have never DM'd (GM'd, whatever) any games besides a small one shot for my daughter. I love the character creation and, um, this is a little sad, but I will buy games, even if I don't have anyone to game with, and use the various PC creator's. I love it. Same for Computer RPG's, I like creating more than running out to the adventure. That is where this site and PbF etc have helped me, I get to play those characters now.

Re: RPG Geek DramaSystem Contest 2015
I enjoyed creating the character types too, Craig. In fact I probably should trim the list a wee bit. I think the difference, more than GMing, is the type of pitch. Yours works well with the heavier emphasis on characters because that is what something based around a theatre should be like, and most will have a good idea about the setting or be able to fill it in. Carrie's pitch would need a lot more setting information because people might not have as much information to go off for that historical period and need more help besides their imagination to fill in the details.

I hope to get mine finished over the weekend but I've been so busy lately that I don't know if I'll have time. At the moment I'm stuck on names. How to get pronounceable names in an Aztec/Egyptian mishmash, that is the question.

God bless,
Kezle

OK, sketched my pitch up. Now I just need to type it. Strangely for me I think I've created an idea with no fantasy, SF or supernatural elements at all. Possibly no fun either, but you never know...

My submission is straight up historical - no fantasy, no Sci-Fi, no supernatural... which is of course why my next two series pitches are going to be filled to the brim with magic and Sci-Fi tropes... so I don't go into withdrawal!

Which is not to say that a historical game wouldn't be fun to play. Just, different, in a good way.

I have played one game of Numenera during last years VirtuaCon and game of ZombieLand during PandaCon (All Hail the Empress!) and I enjoyed them tremendously. I am looking to do more games soon. I am currently between two houses as we move and once that is settled I want to do some more G hangouts or roll20.

Me too!

The historical research is fun, and I can fold in some genre elements. However, I share your concerns that a historical pitch will seem dowdy in comparison with more glamorous genre entries.

The bottom line is that I can see some great dramatic possibilities in my historical pitch, so I shall stick to my chosen topic.

Best of luck
Phil

So... finally getting a little time to work on this.

Did some historical research, outlining/imagining, and I started rereading the rules.

Feels good to be under way.

Hi Andrew,

Thank you.

Today I worked through the sequence of questions for the start of the pitch, and it seems to cover much the same ground as the setting details. I am hoping this means I can write a shorter essay about the background, as so much is covered here.

These optional questions have done a lot to set the tone of the game, so are definitely worth the extra effort.

Thank you again for the support

Phil

Re: RPG Geek DramaSystem Contest 2015
I've been catching up on episodes of the Ken and Robin Talk About Stuff podcast and I discovered (fortuitously) that Episode 88 - contains a segment about how to put together your DramaSystem series pitch.

You can find a static link to the episode on their blog and it's still in their iTunes feed.

If you like things like DramaSystem, you should love this podcast.

Re: RPG Geek DramaSystem Contest 2015
All the pitches submitted so far have been great fun to read! Lots of variety and interesting ideas. They reminded me that I need to work on my own submission so now I've finally made some progress over the weekend. A wee bit more on the different cities and roles and then it should be good to go.

God bless,
Kezle
