I think that to imply that one has given (launched?) a star is okay...just not to name who the recipient is...

Yes, it's fine to say you've launched a star... more than a hundred are launched every month. You just can't say who was your recipient!

Cue people denying they've done this.

The rules have not changed. As in all things not everyone assigns the rules the same importance.

Well, I would like to state my case for the continued importance of this aspect of the initiative - not so as to open an argument, but as a quiet bit of persuasion, food for thought.

I truly have absolutely no idea which generous BGGer recently surprised and honored me with my first star. It genuinely increased my positive feelings and wish to be friendly and helpful, thinking that it could be any number of people and that there indeed are so many kind and generous fellow members here. That's what I would really hope to pass forward with any star gifts of my own.

Yes I understand and wouldn't argue for additional rules. However I did spend a little time trying to suss out who my giver might be cuz I'm human that way. whistle In the end I couldn't do any better than maybe throwing a dart while blindfolded at perhaps this list of names or this other list meeple and that turned out to be better than thinking I knew.
