Support comes in many forms: community involvement, forum posts, submitting data, running PbF games, word-of-mouth advertising, financial donations... All these are vital to this site, and you have my sincere thanks for participating in any of them.

In due course the individual files will be loaded into the database here, but in the meantime I have compiled all of the entries into a zip file hosted externally. You can download it now from:

http://stelio.net/games/geek/24hr2015.zip (51.4MB)

That's a single file containing all entries. If that's too big for you, here are the same files split across four archives:

http://stelio.net/games/geek/24hr2015A.zip (12.6MB)
http://stelio.net/games/geek/24hr2015B.zip (14.3MB)
http://stelio.net/games/geek/24hr2015C.zip (10.8MB)
http://stelio.net/games/geek/24hr2015D.zip (13.6MB)

Voting has begun!

In order to vote:

1 Download the files for all of the entries, and give them a good read.

2 Decide on what order you think the games should be ranked, from best to worst.

3 GeekMail your decision to me (quick link).

Voting algorithm

All registered users are eligible to vote. You can change your mind if you want by sending me an updated order of voting, but only if you do so before voting closes.

The contest will be decided by Single Transferable Vote (the same method as before). This is a voting method that is not possible (yet) using the poll functionality on this site, which is why you need to send me your votes instead. I will then count up the results in order to determine the winner.

The only information I need for your vote is a list of the games in the order that you think they should end up. You do not need to list all entries in your vote, but please list at least four entries as there are places for four winners. Listing fifth/sixth/etc. choices helps when the voting is close.

For full disclosure, I will be using the Droop quota with surplus votes reallocated through proportional allocation similar to the Gregory method.

Timeline

First deadline: Tuesday 27 October 2015
Second deadline: Tuesday 3 November 2015
Final deadline: Tuesday 10 November 2015

There are lots of games to read, and it takes time to digest them all and decide which is best. The voting period includes three weekends, so there shouldn't be any problems. Just in case, I'll extend the above deadline if I think that I haven't received enough votes (I'd like a minimum of 35 votes, at least as many as the number of contestants). If it's close to the deadline and you still need more time, let me know (by posting here) as that will affect my decision to extend the deadline.

Questions

Please ask any questions in this thread.

The vote-counting mechanism is ideally suited to this type of contest, but is complex and so I won't be surprised if there are requests for further explanation.

An answer to one important question that keeps cropping up:
Please wait until voting is over before posting any reviews of the games (we want people to vote based on their own opinions and not be unduly swayed by the thoughts of others).

Designers:

Your entry is in the database now. See it listed under 2015 RPG Geek 24 Hour RPGs.

Please upload your entry as a file against the RPG item, so that it can be preserved for all time. If needs be I can do that myself, but if you do it that means you'll get any thumbs and tips associated with the file.

Also feel free to upload images for the item and RPG entry, although again I've got image files ready to go if you'd like me to do it for you (and I'll pass on the GeekGold to you).

I've also got GeekGold for you for the data entries. I'll sort that out over the weekend; it's past midnight here and I'm off to bed now. snore

For those new to the database, you now have a designer entry of your own! Do edit the description field if you want, and perhaps even upload a photo of yourself. I can make any edits as needed to the name. And you can have a "GAME DESIGNER" uberbadge that links your profile to your database entry; just let me know. Note also this thread: RPG Designer/Editor/Artist/Publisher Microbadges Now Available!

Congratulations to all the participants: I hope I'll manage to read all of your creations and then cast my vote!

I would have joined the contest as well but I've had always too many pressing things to do over and over to stop and come up with something decent.

Good luck everyone!

I read them prior to the making of this thread. Even though I read all of them, I did not rank all of them, as that was way too hard - just the top 6, and the bottommost few.

I have submitted my ballot.

I'd like that thank all the contestants for some very interesting reading!

Once the results are finalized, I hope to post a forum entry with a sentence about what I liked most about each game.

Sounds awesome

I'm super surprised how quickly people are voting. It's a shame none of us can really even take the time to play all of them. I've often found things read better than they actually play, or vice versa.

Everything read, rated and ranked. Great submissions everyone!

I tried to give the most weight to innovation. Nobody expects complete games, but there are a lot of diamonds in the rough among the submissions. Interesting ideas that I hope will find their way into other, bigger games.

By the time anyone reading gets to "Yyyyy..." they'll be zombiefied. They'll forget the "Aaaaa..." and "Bbbbb..."

I'll reserve fully the rights to the title "Zzzzzz Zombie" for 2016.
