According to OLWLG, this is the 13th math trade I've organized. Here's hoping for lucky 13!

Sure that would make sense. I'll keep an eye out for it. Thanks!

That is correct. It takes a bit for it to sync up and get added. It will probably be up there by this evening.

Does adding an rpg image of a sweetener mess with the data information that is used for the math trade. Below is how it would be presented.

Single sweetener example:

Sweetener:
Spell Law (2nd Edition, Revised)

Language: English
Softcover
Condition for Both: Good/Some wear on covers

Shipping for all: U.S.A. free shipping. Cover the first $5 for worldwide.

Multiple sweeteners example:

Sweetener:
_____
_____

Back Alley Brigands __ The Forest Verdant ____The Frozen Tower

Language: English
Binding: Greeting Card
Condition: New

Shipping for all: U.S.A. free shipping. Cover the first $5 for worldwide.

So a quick post on shipping, to make sure everyone is on the same page.

1. All shipping clauses must be stated for EVERY item. You should include how much you are going to pay for shipping and to where.

For example, these are good examples:

Quote:
I'll cover the first $15 worldwide

Quote:
Free shipping in the USA; I will pay the first $10 internationally.

Quote:
I will pay for all shipping in North America. I will not ship internationally.

These are not good examples.

Quote:
I'll pay for shipping.
You'll pay for it to where? Do you ship internationally?

Quote:
I'll cover all shipping in the US.
What about internationally?

2. This is an international trade. If you do not want to ship internationally, then explicitly state so in your item. You are well within your rights to do so, much may get less people adding it.

3. Even if you state such, and a person outside your country gets the item, you both will have to work it out.

4. If the person you are getting an item from is outside your country, and they stated they will only pay the first $X, then you are responsible for the cost after that amount.
4a. If you don't want to pay, then you don't get the item and they (or I or RPGG) are NOT under any obligation to make it right. You are, however, still required to ship out the item you are trading.

5. For #4, I therefore highly suggest that if you are adding an item outside your country to your trade list, ask how much shipping could be from the person. People are usually pretty happy to at least get an estimate, so you know how much your cost would be.

Just submit a blank want list for the duplicate entry. It basically removes it from the algorithm

You can strike through, or change the text to read "duplicate entry." Or, you could just delete the item from the list. I read on another math trade that deleting items was no longer verboten and OLWLG could keep up with deletions.

You can edit it to "Outside the Scope" and edit the descritption to say "Blanked" or something similar. Not a big deal.

Yes, I've participated in math trades in which users could (and did without causing problems) delete items

Since it hasn't been synced to OLWLG yet, you can delete the item. Its generally stated you shouldn't, but I believe the cause of that was way back when OLWLG first started. Its alot more robust now, but to be on the safe side, striking everything out and submitting an empty want list is the best thing to do.

Would someone be so kind and enlighten me how this works? Especially with more than one item!
I've read the general Math Trade Wiki Page, but I can't wrap my head around it at the moment ... blush

In a math trade, here are the basic steps:

As in most things, there are multiple ways to do it "right." This is just my method.

1. Enter the items you want to trade away into the geeklist like you would any other geeklist. Include language, condition, and your personal shipping policy.

2. When the period to enter items ends, you'll use another tool called the Online Want List Generator (OLWLG). You have to have an account there.

3. In the OLWLG you look look for the item(s) that you want to receive. You will click the "add" button to add them to your "list." At the same time, you will choose which of your items you'd be willing to trade away for that one item.

Here's a picture of me "adding" Mystery Men to my "list."

Here's picture of me choosing to try to trade away Astounding Adventures, Ruins or the North, OR Dancing Hut of Baba Yaga for Mystery Men:

4. Click Save.

Repeat this process for every item that you want, choosing which of your items you'd be willing to trade for that specific item.

5. You then "edit" your "list." Here's a picture of three different ways to do the same thing:

6. Click the button to submit your "list."

7. Click the button to submit your "list." (You do have to click twice.)

8. You'll receive a geekmail from jeffyjeff that your list has been submitted. If you don't get the geekmail, go back and make sure that you submitted TWICE.

9. Up until the period for submitting your "lists" closes, you can go back and edit, edit, edit... Always remember to submit (twice).

10. Once the period closes, software runs that compiles everybody's list and works out the most advantageous number of trades.

11. Ship!

Here are some important notes...
1. It's rarely a direct 1:1 trade. Using my example above, I might receive Mystery Men and have to ship Astounding Adventures, but rarely would I ship AA to the same person that is sending me MM.

2. If you don't click to "add" an item of yours in step 3 above, YOU WILL NOT BE REQUIRED TO TRADE IT AWAY. For example, I didn't put a checkmark next to Val-du-Loup. If I didn't put a check mark next to Val-du-Loup for any item I'm interested in receiving, there's no way I would have to send Val-du-Loup. As a matter of fact, it's entirely possible to not trade away any item you put on the geeklist by entering what's known as a "blank want list." In consequence, you won't get anything either.

3. It bears repeating... YOU WILL NEVER BE REQUIRED TO TRADE AWAY SOMETHING YOU DON'T WANT TO TRADE AWAY. If you don't check the box next to it, it's not going anywhere.

4. Ask questions. We're happy to help.
