Cool win!

So people shouldn't definitely go "in" on the "20 questions" options when they come around. You never know what you'll get, but you just might find a use for it.

This.

I worried about each box I sent Chad, realizing after the fact that the questions weren't really enough to get a good feel, especially when I was limiting to using three answers. That's why I expanded on the horror box, even though it was still iffy after getting the answers.

For the sci-fi box I latched on to these:

- Star Wars or Star Trek? Babylon 5 or Battlestar Galactica?
Star Trek and B5.

- Hard or Soft?
Medium

- Exploration or Extermination?
Exploration

Tiny Frontiers: Revised is a minimalist toolkit that can easily be used for a Star Trek or B5-esque game.

The Expanse Roleplaying Game Quickstart was kind of a hail mary. I played the adventure, I've watched the show, I've started the books and the feel seemed like it fit.

Elite: Dangerous Role Playing Game Core Book has a strong theme of exploration but it's more of a personal scale than Star Trek or B5. One of the sourcebooks is actually called Exploration, so there's that. Admittedly the ship combat does feel more like BSG than B5.

All of those fit medium sci-fi (to me).

The Serenity comic was because Chad had Firefly in his wishlist. Empire of Dust was another swing for the fences because I drew a dotted-line to B5, specifically Talia Winters and the corporate telepath idea.

Now y'all have a look in my head and the thought process that goes into those surprise boxes. Definitely a gamble if you go in.

Let's keep prodding around the inner workings of Jay's mind...

I also won his superhero chain. Here are the Qs & As.

I felt like this was easier than either of the others for obvious reasons. Cold Steel Wardens works for these answers (in my opinion) but...

The Maxx hunting in the Dream-Time.

I don't even know. Chad may have been screwing with me.

I was curious myself so just read a bunch of stuff on "The Maxx" from Image Comics: sounds like super dark really good stuff. Homeless guy that calls himself The Maxx has an "alternate reality" (aka The Outback, or Dream-Time) where he's a superhero. He also is trying to save his social worker from a serial killer that is also connected to The Outback? Definitely looking up more...

Ladies, Gentlemen, The Maxx is awesomesauce. If you can find it out there, MTV's Oddities did an animated version that is pretty good. The best part of the entire series (I know I'll get some stares for this) is Mister Gone. I use a character based on him as a sort of 'Overlord' of the gods in almost every campaign I run that involves gods.

There's even a crossover with The Maxx and Batman where Arkham Asylum merges with The Outback. I want to say there was a Wolverine crossover as well but I'm not 100% sure.

It's a good comic, I just wasn't sure how to give him a psychedelic supers game since I didn't have Heroes & Heroines Rules Guide (The Maxx is an adventure for it) and was trying to stay away from generic rulesets.

EDIT: Looks like there is a collected edition of Batman/The Maxx coming out in October.

Not the Isz?

I put the Isz into a Gamma World campaign once.

I still have some Maxx comics somewhere in the garage.

The Isz (Note the S lol) are pretty awesome too. Especially for comic relief.
