??? I don't think you understand what is meant by Family rather than Edition. We would be going by GURPS which was first published in the '80s, not by the latest edition.


Right, you would give the GLAIR to everything in the winning family, not everything in the family that meets the ten year limit. The ten year minimum just means ONE game in the family must be at least ten years old.

I think it should stay as Champions. I'm a serious fanboy but I think Champions is more deserving than Hero System.

I do. But in the database, RPG Honors cannot be assigned to families, only to RPG and RPG Items. So when a family like "GURPS" wins, the actual database linking happens at the RPG level.

Truth. With a backlog of decidedly worthy older games, a lifespan requirement isn't likely to have a big impact on which game wins or even which games are nominated each year, but it would unnecessarily create a group of games that are excluded, games that can't win or even be nominated.

As of right now, 2/3s of responders think there should be an age limit this year and 50% think it should be ten years. That is not enough of a majority for me to be comfortable instituting the rule, so unless the votes change by a lot over the next few days we won’t use it this time around.

I will revisit the idea at the end of the contest.

It's mostly just the "Keys" system that TSOY uses for character motivations/advancement. The rest of LB does not particularly resemble TSOY.

Some things accomplish more in a minute than others do in a lifetime. If something new comes along that is so important it's a shoe-in for our little hall of fame, why not include it?

And hey, you never know. Games have been weak for a while now. We're due for something big.

Also, I really do nominate DSA. Easily top 15 on any list like this.
