Mr Molesley the Cutter and Jubilee the Leech were followed when they left Ironhook prison to return to headquarters (during the previous session). Jubilee ducked into a haberdashery, bought a new hatband and left the establishment through the back door, along one of the canals, getting away unseen. Mr Molesley ducked into an alley and pretended to urinate, luring their pursuer (obviously a plainsclothes Bluecoat) to them. Spook the Lurk raced to the alley to make sure no bloodshed occurred, but the pursuer basically gave up and walked right past Molesley, completely ignoring him.

That taken care of, they all returned separately to the hotel the Crew uses as headquarters. Crate the Slide had spent the afternoon creating a 'secret' language with Annette, Molesley's granddaughter. They can converse basic concepts, and have moved on to creating a written version of it. They have been copying the runes that Spook had been painting on the walls, because to them they are meaningless squiggles.
Molesley doesn't approve at all -- but that is probably because he doesn't want Annette to get attached to anyone or anything. Spook completely flips out, because she knows what the runes mean, and she and Crate have a little scuffle over the papers. She manages to wrestle them from him, and proceeds to carefully burn them. Crate decides he doesn't care that much: if she feels so strongly about it, he's willing to let it go. When he gets to his room, Jubilee is waiting for him, but he quickly leaves, muttering something about catching up later.

The Crew decides what to do next. Finding out what Tarvul's sister is up to bubbles up as the top priority. They know she is hiding out in a butcher's shop around the Docks. Crate contacts Nyryx, a prostitute plying her trade around there, and all she can tell him is that there is some kind of schism growing in the Billhooks gang. He also goes into the butcher's shop itself: there are Billhooks loitering outside, and there is one obvious gang member sitting in a chair inside the shop in front of a door leading to the back room. Crate is served by a disinterested butcher woman (perhaps this is the sister?) and buys some overpriced meat off her.

Then Spook decides she is going to try to break in. She was so upset about Crate's use of the runes for his game that she locked herself in her room and so she hasn't done her usual pre-break-in recon. She'll just have to improvise. The rest of the Crew take positions in alleys around the butcher's shop. Spook gains access to a building across the street from the shop and manages to get in on the top floor through a walkway that connects the two buildings. It's some kind of storage area that's covered in a thick layer of dust, and below, she can hear people talking...
