I can't go raiding with the local Pokemon Go players when I'm in an RPG session.

As of today since 6/1/2016 I have spend $5,391.23. This includes con fees.
Small sacrifices, an hour or two after the game doing a write up. This could be just be 5 minutes if I just listed the rewards and module on facebook. An hour or two before the game reading the adventure or book. And if I remember pulling the minis from my collection.

It cuts into my Krokodil budget a bit, plus I have to work around my habit so I'm intelligible when it's time to play. I consider these small things, though, not really worth quibbling about.

What little sacrifices do you make regularly to play or run an ongoing RPG?

Do you have a question you want asked as QOTD? Post here!

And if you want to find an old QOTD: The big QOTD Summary and Subscription Thread Volume 3

Petroleum based snack food products. Lots and lots of PBSFP.

That and malted battery acid (coke).

Hey, my guys are coming from 35 miles away. I try my best to keep them happy. And fat.

Well, store owners playing the products they buy instead of selling them are not earning money off of those products, I suppose.

@Aramis: The store does not supply my "main" income and hasn't for years, there is no competing with the 'Net. These days it's a pure sideshow, my income is from my IT job. IT allows you to work from home a lot and thus multitask.
@Bxrrr: Spot on... whistle

I worked for a game store for a while after I got a real job, and can definitely attest to that. A few of us only worked for credit and the ability to buy stuff at cost, and it was one of the small things that helped the owner keep it afloat as long as he did.

The wife doesn't get RPGs or LARP. For the most part she's grown to tolerate RPGs at least, if not the LARP.

I get to go out once a week to my RPG group. I stopped going out on a second evening to a boardgame group when kids came on the scene. I can also game online occasionally.

As DMSamuel so beautifully wrote, they are choices not so much sacrifices. Others I know go drinking, clubbing, the gym. I choose to game.

If we are talking SACRIFICES then getting married and having a family created the biggest sacrifices by far. I moved from Essex to Wiltshire to be near my wife's parents. I've left my family, friends, LARP+TableTop RPG group behind. THAT is sacrifice. What I do to be able to game is not.
