I just looked at a D&D 5 scenario with this in the description:

Quote:
If the characters manage to survive...

So, yeah, don't really want to play that scenario!

What other description tags have you seen that make you think... "Next!"

Not an adventure, per se, but from a recent RPG Kickstarter's promotional materials:

If you value powerful characters over political correctness...

Nope!

From an otherwise somewhat straight system that didn't seem to do anything too gonzo:

Quote:

Into the North: an assault on Saint Nick the Dwarf Thief's evil fortress.

Quote:

Saint Nick has a magical bell he can ring to control all shrunken elves in his vicinity instead of his 1d10 damage attack. If he fears for his life he’ll toss 17 bunches of magical mistletoe at the party and run for it.

Quote:

Rudolph is psychotic and will attempt to bite the genitals off of anyone who tries to ride him

I don't want to play this. I... kind of want to read it and share the results with other Geeks, though.

Ha! I actually created and ran a one-shot where the PCs fought Santa and the end-boss was Rudolph. Also included a talking Yeti named Steve. So yeah, absolute gonzo stuff. No genitalia-biting, though, so I suspect it was a bit less visceral.

I feel like we're just hitting a big wave of setting mashups in industry products, and I'm already a bit over it. Miss me with your anime-robots-meets-Game-of-Thrones crossover. There are ways to handle tonal and genre overlap with aplomb (e.g. Numenera), but there are so many others that just seem like they're a fever dream cash-in attempt. But enough fans exist for all of this stuff. So I look forward to someday playing as Disney's Aladdin on the deck of a Federation starship, or some other such nonsense.

Any adventure (or sourcebook, for that matter) that attempts to turn a non-silly setting or a serious setting into a comedy, especially using absurdity of characters and/or slapstick.

If I wanted comedy, I'd pick a setting/game with comedy as a goal.

Oh, and anything making fun of real world religions; not just mine (tho that's the most annoying to me), but generally, such works are filled with other unfun elements.

Yeah, but you'll be able to restart with a new group in prison.

Nope. Roleplaying is considered a form of "gang activity" in most prisons.

True. On a more pragmatic side, I don't want to waddle through a paragraph or more telling me that X or Y is the best thing since sliced bread to just know what this is about. It tends to put me off.

Show, don't tell.

Largely true; telling people he's the king is his herald's job.

"Draw nigh and pay heed to to the court of Christian, your true and undoubted king..."

And the Marshal's job to eradicate those who disagree violently.

On the other hand, given some of the historical sybaritism in certain courts, it may be wise for one to ask, "Who is the King?" ... as all men look much alike when en deshabille...

We did have a president named Paul Deschanel who fell from his night train. The train was going quite slowly, so he was not too badly hurt.

A few hours later, a head of station saw a bloodied man in a muddy pajama walk up to him with the help of a railroad worker, and heard him say, "I am the President of the Republic."
