One of my best rpg partners is not a rpgg user.

He is an atomic energy data engineer. Thinks everything is energy, power, mass, vectors, bytes. And carried this over into pretty simulationist rpg.

Or rather, he did. One FATEful day he discovered narrativism and indie rpg, and got intoxicated. Now he has a whole shelf of these only, and none of the others anymore. And he constantly wants to discuss rpg creation.

180° heel turn.

they refer to Lego pieces strewn over a floor as "caltrops".

they use the term "10 foot pole" more than once per day.

their shelves are littered with Crown Royal bags but they don't drink rye.

they refer to their kids as 1st edition, 2nd edition, 3rd edition...

they use FLGS's as waypoints when offering driving directions.

they get excited hearing the phrase "class warfare".

True, but I'm more of a casual RPGer.

I still always tell people when entering a dark room that we will probably be eaten by a Grue.

they insist that there aren't any decent jobs available even though the employment ads are full of openings for Clerical work.

the grocery list on their fridge door includes encumbrance values.

Not as funny as getting stabbed in the portico, which is even more painful than getting it in the rotunda.

when you read a math problem about die probability, and you have to ask the teacher how many sides the die has.

(speaking from personal experience with my kids when the math textbook clearly assumed that all dice were a d6 but did not specifically state so.)

This reminds me of the "Cheaper by the Dozen" novel where the father refers to each child as a certain year's model.

... and the teacher asking to have a talk with you because your kids obviously don't know the most basic things - like the number of sides on a die. Maybe you should play some games with them. you surely have heard about Monopoly, haven't you?
