In some cases, including me, it isn't that I am not media savvy it is just that I am somewhat aphantasic.

I feel your pain on this one.

I don't know if it would help ease anxiety for F2F games, but have you looked at some of the newer systems like Powered by the Apocalypse for example? This system gets the players involved in world building and narrative decisions and takes the spotlight off the GM some, compared to traditional RPG systems. This kind of collaboration might help to alleviate some of the anxiety that comes with feeling totally responsible for the success/fun of the session.
