I've been working on a Fiasco playset, and I thought you guys would be interested in the various aesthetic hoops I've had to jump through.

Fiasco uses a bunch of cool typefaces that are a bit of a challenge to find. Here's where to get the relevant fonts for free. Some of these are for noncommercial use only. The title page font is Vertigo, but there are several fonts of that name. The one you want can only be found at http://www.fontoville.com/ and the direct link is:

http://www.fontoville.com/downloads/Vertigo_wwwFontovilleCom...

The headings for each section in are a font called Hitchcock. Sometimes the headings are in black, and other times they're in a particular red which the GIMP tells me is #b71d21 or RGB (183, 29, 33). You can find the Hitchcock font here:

http://www.fonts101.com/fonts/view/Uncategorized/49472/Hitch...

The d6 font used in the playsets looks to be hand made. A decent d6 font can be downloaded for free from DriveThruRPG, and it maps various dice values to the letters on the keyboard. The font is here:

http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product_info.php?products_id=5...

The body text is Meridien, which I can't find a free lookalike of. Book Antiqua is the closest I can get so far. Any suggestions for a closer match?

Nice links. I think close is just fine since often at normal print/screen resolution you can't see the difference unless you're into typography.

Hi

A while back I created an OpenOffice document that's a template of sorts for writing Fiasco playets.

Fiasco Playset Template

If you install the fonts that have been linked to above, just download this document, open it in OpenOffice Writer, and start filling in the blanks.

Also, here is a link to a Fiasco sign-up sheet that you can use at conventions. It really helps your Fiasco game stand out on crowded con boards, if you can spare the printer ink.

Cheers
Pete

FWIW, if you're making a playset and have access to Adobe Indesign you can ask the template directly to Bully Pulpit Games

Sweet. Would you folks be interested in a playset competition? I'm keen to see what the creative types here come up with.

That could be fun, go on then, propose a compo

How about Fiasco playsets set in the world of sport? Boxing, horse-racing, footie, rugby, cricket... ripe for some Fiasco-shenanigans.

Good idea! I have announced it here: Fiasco playset contest (win valuable geekgold)

I decided on just having a sporting element included to avoid double ups of the same topic.

It turns out the Windows TTL works on MacOS 10.9.4 while the "Mac" Postscript font does not.

At least this is how it worked for me.

I know this is an ancient thread but still

After politely asking the folks at Bully Pulpit for a template I was able to get the full set of fonts that they use (minus the FiascoBlackDice) that they used for the playsets.

That includes:

MeridienLTStd-Bold
MeridienLTStd-Medium
MeridienLTStd-MediumItalic

Not sure if I am allowed to share them though >.>
